Abstract
Brown marine macroalgal samples, whether attached to rocks or found drifting outside the water (drift), were collected irregularly from five sites (site1: Om al-Hajl, site2: Ardano, site3: Soqba, site4: Zaghrat and site5: Butraba) which are located between Tukra and Tolmetha and extending about 30 km. 11 species of phaeophyta were collected from the study area, belonged to 4 genera. All five sampling sites were involved in the presence of four species of phaeophyta (Cystoseira barbata, Cystoseira cinitophylla, Cystoseira crinita, and Sargassum ramentaceum). These findings highlight the ecological significance and widespread distribution of key Phaeophyta species along this Libyan coastal stretch.
